“And it’s here that Ms. Grace, 36, has taken a leap forward in her career, which is clearly one to watch, because of her ego-restrained way of preparing familiar, even lowbrow fare with such exacting standards and such sagely chosen grace notes that it takes on an unfamiliar luster.”

My favorite is the zucchini blossoms. You can get them at the Union Sq Greenmarket - 4/$1 or a whole box (about 20+ blossoms) for $5. Stuff ‘em with seasoned ricotta (you can also get that at the Greenmarket), twist them shut, dip them in a light batter, and fry in olive oil.
P.E. & D.D. Seafood (Union Square Greenmarket, Saturdays) has fantastic bluefish. When we went, a 3lb. filet cost us just over $8 and easily fed 3 people. Bluefish is not the prettiest piece of seafood, and it can have a distinctive and unpleasant fishy odor, but cook it right and you’ll be greatly rewarded. Big bonus: it’s a lot more ecologically sustainable than tuna, salmon, and sea bass.

[Life: Make] Minty Cubes
The older I get the more I appreciate the little things. Minty ice cubes are one of those great little things in life - sooo easy to make and make a huge difference - be it in water, lemonade, ice tea or vodka! I love them with basil or rosemary too.
Ingredients:
-fresh mint (or basil, rosemary)
-water (purified)
-ice cube trayDirections:
Clean the mint leaves, and put one leaf (or two!) in each section of ice tray. Add water and freeze, then put ice cubes into beverage of choice. Voila!
A great improvement to any drink (and looks fabulous for dinner parties!)
Love this idea.
Fantastic!
